Pillow Fight

On my way to 12 and A yesterday to skate, I stopped by Union Square to join in the Pillow Fight. It was hectic. Almost 1000 people all happily hitting each other in the face with pillows while chanting “USA! USA!”. God bless America

How to make Banana Puree

Biodog

Boston Dynamics keeps working on their BigDog quadruped robot, which will probably grow to be the future AT-AT of the Pentagon.

It looks like an actual biological quadruped. Seeing it climb through rubble, snow, jumping over obstacles like a wild goat, and saving a near-fall on iced ground at the last second (fast forward to the middle of the video) defies belief. It feels so “animal” that I almost feel bad when they hit it to demonstrate how it regains balance on its own.

Doreen Remen, co-founder of the Art Production Fund and one of the event’s producers played down the tussle to New York: “It was just two guys, and they were asked to leave,” she said. “It all happened very fast.” But Obinna Izeogu, an art director who attended the party, described the scene as a “mini-riot,” in which blows were traded for more than fifteen minutes as more partygoers joined in the fray that continued to swell even after D.J.’s killed the tunes (and Snow’s vision of infinite dance). “It started off like two and then it just became a rumble,” said Izeogu. Armory security staff, unprompted, dialed 911 for reinforcements, and officers who responded called it “that gigantic fight”.

Friday Night

Friday night at the Armory was bananas. The girls from Karen Black performed in the Drill Hall and killed it. When that was done, everybody migrated to Agathe’s dance floor and started dancing.
